School visits

A visit to Clementsmount Fun Farm is a unique experience, combining fun, exploration and learning. It is an excellent resource for schools engaged in the Northern Ireland primary school curriculum, particularly for ‘The world around us' learning objectives.

What happens on the tour?
Our guided tour is tailored to your needs and to meet objectives of the curriculum. Pupils will be taken on a journey of discovery around the farm and will see a range of animals and plants. They will have the opportunity to handle animals in the petting barn, feed lambs in the spring, visit ducks, hens, goats, ponies, pigs, cows, sheep, take part in a nature trail and search for mini-beasts.

We also have a range of play activities including an outdoor trim trail, indoor soft play area, football and sand diggers.

How does the tour relate to the Key Stage 1 and 2 curriculum?
It encourages children to explore a range of educational subjects about plants and animals and introduces them to environmental issues and the connectedness of nature.

Pupils will be introduced to a variety of plants and animals, identify their characteristics, investigate features used to group animals, find out about animals and their young, see how animals grow, feed, move, and where they live, discuss the use of colour in the natural environment and identify seasonal changes. In addition, pupils can develop skills in classifying animals, find out about the lifecycles of a frog and a hen and learn about the relationships between plants and animals in our environments.
